Lunch 19/07/2012

Today I am eating this awesome quiche Bunny prepared yesterday. It's made of mushrooms, spinach, onions and of course cream and cheese. I know I shouldn't, but I ate the hole quiche in one go, it was just too good to save a piece.

Yummy!!
See you all soon!

Lunch 07/07/2012

This day Bunny was out and I had to take care of the lunch, and since I am not a good cook, I went for the easiest and healthiest recipe I knew, and yet a really good meal: vegetable brochette. I cut a lot of vegetables, mushrooms, peppers, onions, aubergine and zucchini, and spent some time skewering them in the sticks. I can't set a barbecue in my apartment, so I put them in the oven along with some potatoes, and we got this for lunch:

Dinner 12 /07/2012

For this dinner, Bunny and I had totally different meals. I just ate some mushroom croquettes with fries

while Bunny prepared a very complete salad with spinach, cottage cheese, mushrooms, red peppers, and anchovies. She also made a bowl of tallarimis (it's a kind of pasta made of fish) with a really spicy curry sauce and shrimps.

Lunch 14/07/2012

Tiger and I hit the supermarket to buy food and we found a small buey (We have different names for different crabs, this is a large brown crab) suitable for two people. I love seafood so I had to have it :') It's already boiled so I only had to prepare the head (mix its contents with a boiled egg and white wine)

Second course was Galician style~octopus with baked paprika potatoes :') The little dish on the right has some marinated dogfish leftovers.

Dinner 11/07/2012

Tiger and I went to Ke Wok to have dinner :') We ordered our usual ton of sushi and sashimi, but what I was really looking forward was this amazing Thai Chili wok, really spicy and HOT!

You know you're able to choose the raw the ingredients, the sauce and then they cook it for you :') I chose: aubergine, zucchini, mix of mushrooms, squids, prawns and onion. I always have trouble finishing this dish because is crazy spicy but it can't be helped, I love it :')
Tiger hates spicy food though :'P He had the teriyaki sauce and it was so sweet he couldn't finish it, heheh~

Cup Brownie

I found you can, actually, make a single serving brownie in less than two minutes, how cool is that? :')
It's easy and fast, and it will surely satisfy any chocolate craving. Wanna try? You'll need:

  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp yogurt (you can add more if needed)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch baking soda
Mix all the ingredients and microwave for a minute :') Be careful, it'll come out hot! Add ice cream or whipped cream if you like. Yum :')

Breakfast 11/07/2012

Today I had my protein post~workout (mixed with coconut water and ice, yum!!) so breakfast was all about fiber.

Delicious yogurt with all~bran cereal and diced pineapple. And a bit of cream cheese with pineaple over wholegrain toast. I'm obsessed with pineapple lately but that's actually great. It's yummy, helps with joint pain and has healthy bromelain. :')
That's sugarfree iced lemon tea in the glass :')

Dinner 10/07/2012

Sometimes a Tiger only wants a good Tortilla de patatas (spanish omelette or fritatta) :') Yesterday I cooked one for him, but it came out so big it would have served 2 or 3 people, heheh~

See how thick it is? :'P I make it with onion, but just fries, eggs, oil and salt make a great tortilla.
For me, I grilled eggplant, onion, potato, radish and cabbage with a pinch of salt and pepper and some soy sauce. Delicious~

Tomorrow there won't be a lunch post, because we have a ton of leftovers~ :'P

Lunch 10/07/2012

Finally I got to buy some tofu! I was craving it soooo bad :') I couldn't wait to cook some miso soup. With sliced leek, diced tofu, miso paste and dashi broth.Yum~ :')

I opened a tin of gulas al ajillo (they're like tiny hake noodles with olive oil, chili and garlic) which my mom bought for me. They're delicious and a good source of low~cal protein. :')

Dinner 09/06/2012

Tiger went to the market an bought some nice tuna loins so I couldn't pass the opportunity of making them sashimi style. Continuing with the asian dinner, we made some spring rolls. Yum :') Love homemade sashimi.

Sashimi is great because it's lean raw protein with no added calories. We didn't have fresh sliced ginger so we used powdered instead. Tons soy sauce everywhere and ready to enjoy :')

Tapas 09/07/2012

So... when I say spanish Tapas are a great thing, I mean tapas like this:

It's like a mini meal for free! This is paella, which is a typical dish here. It's made of rice with various ingredients such as peppers, peas, squids, mussels, clams, and sometimes chicken and/or fish. Have you tried it? :')

Lunch 09/07/2012

Yesterday night I had a ton of cereal (like a TON! :'P ) watching a movie with Tiger so today I'm keeping it light eating lean protein (and, ok, two slices of my mom's cheese with anchovies :'D) and salad. Tomatoes, asparagus, and tuna with balsamic vinegar

Main course was chili prawns and surimi ~super spicy, yum~.

If you're like me and you have a problem with self control, do not take all the box of cereal to the bed with you :'P

Protein Pancakes

Meet my favorite breakfast, I call them power pancakes :') The main ingredient is protein powder, right now I'm using Perfect Fit and it's great :') I follow this recipe:

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 packet Perfect Fit protein
  • ½ banana (mashed)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tbsp coconut milk

  • I just mix all the ingredients together in the mixer and pour it in a hot, lightly greased (a couple of drops of olive oil) pan. When the bubbles start to pop, it's time to flip them :') I usually make 4 pancakes.
They taste nice, have a kinda weird texture but they usually come out great.
I top them with sugar~free ligt jelly, plum in the picture :')

Do you use protein powder? How do you have it? :')

    Dinner 06/07/2012

There's nothing like fresh fish fillets :') To get the most out of them I grilled them with toasted sliced garlic, salt and parsley. Then we had them with lemon. Hake fillets are healthy and easy to cook, they're nice breaded but I rather them grilled.

I made a salad to share with Tiger :') It had spinach, tomatoes, soy, sweet and sour carrot, tuna and white asparagus.

    Dinner 05/07/2012

Dinner today consisted of a mix of several vegetables (aubergine, mushrooms, potatos, onion and zucchini) cooked in the oven with soy sauce.

It makes up a great course, very easy to prepare, serves well for two people and very healthy! Or at least healthy for Rabbit since I ate them in mexican tortitas with a ton of cheese... Yummy!

    See ya!

    Lunch 05/07/2012

Completely raw and vegetarian lunch today :')
This salad has spinach, tomato, soy and carrots. Balsamic vinegar and salt for dressing, as always.

For dessert, I took a slice of wholegrain toasted bread and put some of this cute little guy on top. Yum :')

    (I didn't put THAT much, it's just for informational purposes :'P )
Pineapple soft cheese is my all~time favorite!!

    Lunch 04/07/2012

Recently I've learned that my favorite fastfood restaurant, Maoz Vegetarian is closing their only restaurant in Madrid. So there wont be anymore Maoz for me :'(  Tiger and I went to have dinner and they kindly gave us the leftovers so I had them for lunch yesterday.

My Maoz salad had cous cous, tomato sauce, fried cauliflower and carrotsI also made a leek and mackerel fillets salad, in order to have some protein after my workout.
Booooh I'm gonna miss it :'(

    Breakfast 04/07/2012

Easy, fast breakfast I had yesterday. These are all~bran flakes with half a banana sliced in unsweetened, fat free coconut milk.

I'm trying to eat more bananas because potassium is great for muscles, and they're healthy, filling and delicious. :')

    Lunch 03/07/2012

Awwww :'( I finished my mom's homemade wild trout in brine today. Yum :')
It was enough protein by itself so I just had some low~cal zucchini and cheese cream. The cream it's only 100 cal, and if you have it warm, before the main dish, it's filling and helps you don't overeat.

Cream was great but the trout was delicious :')
    Thank you mom <3

    Dinner 01/07/2012

Big Final Soccer Match night! Spain vs. Italy and luckily, we won :')
Tiger and I had our usual bed~picnic but we had some of the food my mom gave me.

Iberian ham croquettes for Tiger, homemade wild trout in brine ( my dad fished it and my mom cooked it! <3 ) Soft white cheese with pineapple, cured cheese, Philadelphia cheese, smoked salmon and anchovies. Toasted wheat bread for me and sandwich bread for Tiger.
We just made toasts with everything while watching the match. Love having variety of foods for dinner :')

Back home with my regular meals, but using some of the food my mom gave me yesterday! Love you mom <3 I'm a bit homesick~

Leek salad with tuna chunks in olive oil, and some smoked salmon with anchovies ( I put them over toasted wheat bread, the anchovies taste amazing with smoked salmon! )

    Dinner 29/06/2012

One of the many good things my family has, is they take us to have dinner to some nice restaurants. This weekend we went to La Favorita. I pretty much liked it. Delicious huge salads (not pictured, sorry, too busy catching up with mom and dad ;') ) and tasty fresh fish.

After the salad, my dad and I shared this is grilled monkfish. That's just my half! Yeah, it was huge, and delicious. One of the best grilled fish I remember. Tiger had a cod omelette and my mom had a iberian pork sirloin brochette. Yep, I stole a couple of her fries, but she kindly shared :')

Dessert! Tiger and I shared, it was warm white chocolate soup with strawberry ice cream
I really don't know how much it was couse my parents invited us, but I overall liked the place.

    Tapas 30/06/2012

Tiger and I went to spend the weekend at my parent's home, so we could celebrate together the patron saint's days of my hometown. These holidays are all about food and drinks, so we had plenty of tapas and other delicious food (my mom's homemade dishes and other fancy menus from restaurants) Here are the tapas we had:

These puff pastry were filled with peppers and mushrooms and covered in that white soft cheese sauce. Pretty good, a bit too oily but loved the crunchiness!

Mackerel chunks with balsamic vinegar over bread with caramel~coated onions. Nothing special but mackerel does work well with onions.

Big mussel croquette. Tasted like other famous tapa called "Tigres" (Tigers in spanish!) which are stuffed mussels. This croquette just lacked the shell, heheh.

    Lunch 29/06/2012

The other day Rabbit made me one of my favourite dishes of all times: an spanish omelette! For those who don't know, it's made of fries, eggs, and in this case also fried onions. It was quite big for only one person, but it was so good I had to eat it all! hehe
