Lunch 28/06/2012

We're having the air conditioning machine fixed so Tiger came to have lunch with me in case I needed help. Yay :') Love some lunch company. Eating is such a social activity, isn't it?
I cooked a homemade spinach, onion and mushrooms pie for him. It came out pretty delicious, or so it seems. He ate it all! He snacked on some dices of semi~hard cheese as well.

For me, some quinoa with peppers and tofu, in soy and chili sauce. Pretty good too.
Quinoa is everything rice and pasta should be. Nice flavor, filling, low fat, fast to boil, lots of fiber and protein. Have you tried it? It's great in salads too :')

Dinner 27/06/2012

Yesterday was match night again and Tiger ordered one of my favorite dinners to celebrate :') Seaweed and prawn balls and maguro (tuna) sashimi. Yay :')

Tiger had a slice or two of the sashimi and half a stuffed aubergine, which had tuna, peppers and cheese filling. We also shared some sardines in brine with wheat toasted bread.

And yeah, we won :')

Lunch 27/06/2012

I almost didn't make it to the gym today! I was feeling lazy but finally I went and I'm so happy I did my workout :') Had breakfast very early (power pancakes!) and by the time I hit the gym I was starving again! I had a pretty big lunch:

That's grilled aubergine, potatoe, onion and mix of mushrooms with soy sauce. On the side, spicy mussels in brine. I had three slices of toasted wheat bread too. I love how crunchy it is :')

Dinner 26/06/2012

Pescetarianism does not mean I don't get to have burgers now and then :')
These are fish burgers made of hake, octopus and salmon. They taste great with a fraction of the fat! I also rather grill them, instead of frying. Healthier :')

The one on the right looks different because it has BBQ sauce and mustard on it :'). I also made a salad with spinach, tuna chunks, tomato and nonfat, soft white cheese as a side dish. Tiger had his burgers in sandwich bread with cheese and sliced tomato.

Lunch 26/06/2012

I didn't have my power pancakes for breakfast today, so I made myself a high protein lunch after the gym.
I cooked hot chili prawns with crab meat, which is a new favorite of mine :') Love spicy food.

Second course was cod~stuffed peppers, with no sauce whatsoever! After yesterday's huge dinner wanna keep the calorie intake low. :') They're great on their own anyway!

Ecocentro Dinner 25/06/12

Last night Rabbit and I went to a charity dinner in favor of the NGO "Igualdad Animal" (Animal Equality). The dinner was given in a vegan restaurant called "Ecocentro" in Madrid, which also has a natural products store and seemed to be very into natural and healthy stuff. The place is really nice and the food is totally different of what we are used to.

The menu included 2 courses, drink and dessert. For the first course we had Watermelon Gazpacho, which is a tomato soup served cold, topped with vegetables.

The second course was a mix of three dishes: It had "japanese salad", made of spinachs and ginger, some cous cous with peas, millet and pistachio nuts, and a slice of a delicious vegan pie with tofu. On the side, steamed potatoes and onions.

For dessert we had thisang pudding and a great apple pie with raisins.

At the end of the dinner they even draw lots for a night in the country side! We didn't win, but it was fun anyway :)
Both menus were 25€ (for a good cause! )

See ya!

Tapas 25/06/2012

Before our charity dinner we went to our new favorite bar in Madrid, La Soberbia, (which I talked about in the previous Tapas post).

This time with our beer they gave us pork loin sandwiches in puff pastry (once again I didn't try them but Tiger did) . He said they were pretty tasty. :')

Lunch 25/06/2012

I'm not being very creative with my lunchs lately but, honestly, it's so hot in here that I don't really feel like eating anything but salads and cold dishes! Blame our intense spanish summer...

That's a spinach, crab meat -surimi-, raw mushrooms and tomato salad. Balsamic cream and salt as dressing! I'm having tempura salmon as well, with soy sauce. I love tempura, and I love salmon so it's the perfect mix of textures/flavors for me.
Also, salmon is full of good-for-you fatty acids!

Dinner 24/06/2012

Since the boys we're having beef burgers I decided to make some soup for myself :') It's really easy and fast to cook, I'll make sure to post the recipe soon~

It's made with dashi, miso, tofu and chopped leek
It's one of my favorite dishes! Sometimes I change the leek for chopped nori, and you can use wakame or daikon too :')

Lunch 22/06/2012

I almost forgot to post this! Sorry :')
I cooked Cha Soba Noodles (green tea noodles) a couple of days ago with an Udon recipe. Very tasty and healthy :') These noodles are far more healthy than your regular pasta, with only 200 kcal per 100 grams and less carbs. They taste great too, and only take up to six minutes to boil.

It has sliced carrots, turnip, leek and some natural tuna chunks. You can add whatever veggie you like :') The sauce I made was soy with salt, sugar and Dashi soup.

Tapas 24/06/2012

New Tag/Category: Tapas!! :')
In many bars and restaurants in Spain they give you something to eat for free, with your drink. It's very usual going to a few bars for beer/soda/wine and have a few tapas with them. Sometimes this practice is considered as lunch itself. It's one of my favorite spanish traditions :')
At La Soberbia today they gave us meatballs in tomato sauce with bread (I didn't try them but Tiger did) with our cañas (small glass of beer).

Ke Wok [Lunch 24/06/2012]

Lazy sunday :')
Today we went to Ke Wok, one of our favorite Wok restaurants in Madrid. We love it mainly because it's in the city center and they have sake sashimi (thinly sliced raw salmon) which is my favorite!
They also have many kinds of maki and sushi.

Closer view of one of the dishes (Tiger and I shared them :') ) With various maki and the sake sashimi.

You have the option to arrange some raw fresh ingredients (fish, meat, mushrooms, veggies...) and they grill them for you or you can choose a sauce (Soy, teriyaki, curry...) and make a wok out of them. Our grill had some king prawns with peppers, asparagus, onions and mushrooms:

And our wok had curry sauce and consisted of at least three kinds of mushrooms, king prawns and squids.

Tiger had some chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert, but I had my usual fresh fruit with chocolate :') I know, I know, but just once in a while I have to treat myself!

Watermelon, kiwi, melon and pineapple with chocolate and whipped cream. Yum. Best dessert ever.

Both Free Buffet lunchs plus two liter~bottles of water were about 27€.

Carrot Cake (pics)

I forgot to post a pic of a slice of the carrot cake (recipe here)! Here you go ;')

It's the last bite of the cake, Tiger has already eaten all of it by himself! :')
I guess that means it's good...

Dinner 22/06/2012

We have gests at home :')
Actually, just one. A friend of Tiger is staying with us for the weekend, so I cooked two dinners (cause I'm pescetarian but they aren't :'P) and I made my famous fried sandwiches for them!

These are very easy to do and soooooo nice warm and tender. Filled with mortadella (bologna) and mozzarella. For me (no pics, sorry) I baked a few vegetarian springrolls and some more artichoke cream.

Dinner 21/06/2012

Rainbow Trout :')
Tiger and I went to the market and bought two of these delicious fresh trouts for dinner. I cook them stuffed with red peppers, over sliced potatoes with some salt, garlic and parsley. In the oven, with no oil whatsoever, they keep all their flavor.

I just served some nonfat battered soft white cheese and chili sauce for the baked potatoes :')
Fish is good for your health and has less fat than chicken. Just try to avoid eating lots of big fish (tunas, swordfish...) and choose instead smaller ones, like rainbow trouts, that have less mercury.

Lunch 21/06/2012

This artichoke cream is supposed to be good enough either cold or hot, but I don't really do cold creams (aside of gazpacho/salmorejo, heheh~) so I had it warm, and it was delicious! :') It was a good side for my salad today. I love soups and creams.

That's a spinach, boiled potatoe, fresh tomato and surimi salad. Balsamic vinegar and a pinch of salt as dressing. For lunch I had less protein because our dinner is going to be grilled fish! Stay tuned to see what I cooked ;')

Dinner 20/06/2012

Tiger made his famous scrambled eggs with cod and fries. It's a dish called "bacalao dorada" (golden cod) wich is delicious. I've never done it so all the credit goes to Tiger :')

I cut some fresh salmon in sashimi to share, with soy sauce and sliced ginger.

Lunch 20/06/2012

Pescetarian lunch!
I love these new tagliatelle they sell here. They're made with fish and crab meat, so you get good protein and very low fat (90kcal per portion). They taste good, and work either cold (salads) or warm (pasta~style dishes, wok...). Very easy and they don't really need any cooking, but I usually stir~fry them. Today I had them sauted with rovellones (a very tasty kind of mushroom) in a light soy and chili sauce with onion and garlic.

I was starving so I had a seaweed and tofu burger too, with mustard and BBQ sauce :')

xoxo

Breakfast 20/06/2012

Today I did make my power pancakes! :')
I make them with Perfect Fit Protein Powder and have them first thing in the morning (after 8 or more hours without eating, fasting state) they taste pretty good and they are healthy and filling! And more importantly, these pancakes fuel me to run and give my best at the gym.

Today I topped them with sugarfree strawberry jelly

Carrot Cake

Carrot Cake is my favorite! :')
Yesterday I baked one for Tiger, since he likes to take a piece to work for breakfast. My recipe is very simple to follow and really easy to make.

This is what we need (for 2 or 3 hungry beasts):

2 large eggs
225 gr very thinly sliced carrot
130 gr brown sugar
120 gr flour
240 ml olive oil
2 tablespoons coconut milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt

Let's get to it!
  • Preheat the oven 180 or 356ºF.
  • Mix the eggs with the sugar, about five minutes til the mixture doubles its size.

  • Add the oil and the milk to the previous mixture
  • Use another bowl, mix flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon and sift it.
  • Gradually pour the dry ingredients in the mixture, mixing them softly as you go.
  • Add the sliced carrots.
  • Grease a baking pan and ready to go!
  • Put it in the oven for about 40 minutes.

That's how it should look after! It tastes great by its own, but you can also make some frosting to put it over, or cut it in halves and fill it with jelly, Nutella or anything you want. It's really moist so it will last 3 or 4 days if you store it well :').
Enjoy!

Lunch 19/06/2012

I love salads :')
They're so fun and require so little effort to make! I usually make salad as main dish, so I try to make them complete (both protein and vitamins) and I always use spinach (the greener the veggie, the better for your health -and more satisfying too!-) instead of the not really nutritious lettuce.

This one had : spinach, fresh sliced tomato, sliced nonfat soft white cheese, anchovies, surimi and asparagus. No oil whatsoever, only balsamic vinegar and a pinch of salt for dressing.

*Hold your hand with the anchovies, they're full of salt! I love them, but I only have 3 or 4 in each salad so I cut them in halves to fool myself :') .
*The nonfat soft cheese is filling and tasty, with some good protein and 0%fat.

Breakfast 19/06/2012

Morning :')
Usually when I'm gonna hit the gym later in the morning (5/6 days a week) I have my famous Power Pancakes for breakfast (made with protein powder) but today I was feeling like something a little bit faster so I just sliced half a banana into 40gr of All~Bran and showered it with sweet, low fat coconut milk.

It's a great breakfast to power up your metabolism for only 150-200 kcal and a very low fat intake. You can also spice things up adding some cinnamon! Yum :')

Dinner 18/06/2012

Soccer night!
Tiger and I are not the biggest football fans out there but we kinda enjoy the "bigger" matches in which Spain plays. We love watching them while having dinner on our bed! So we usually display assorted foods or snacks and have them fuzz-free, picnic style.
Today's match was a bit on the boring side but dinner was great: grilled aubergine, onion, potatoes and squash with a pinch of salt and various sauces (BBQ, mayo, hummus, battered cheese, chili and mustard)

I just had them without any other extras but Tiger made  a couple of fajitas with the veggies.
Just for fun we threw some marinated dogfish and cod croquettes in the bunch .
Healthy, delicious  and fast :')

Lunch 18/06/2012

Leftovers everywhere!
Tiger and I shared the last sushi roll we had so we could enjoy four pieces each. And, since we had gone to Maoz Vegetarian the previous night, we had enough leftover for lunch! It came in handy because I overstayed in the gym, so I didn't have time to cook anything, heheh~~
My Maoz salad had cous~cous, carrots, cauliflower and simple salad (not cucumber or colesaw). Had it with some sweet and sour sauce
